History

Serving the Apopka area since 1923 and 1965.

The Apopka Chief and The Planter newspapers are independently-owned and family-operated. The Apopka Chief is a subscription-based publication that is delivered each Friday by U.S. Mail. It features up-to-date editorial content with opinion, lifestyle, and sports pages, as well as classified and legal sections each week.

The Planter is a free publication that is published each Thursday. It features local events, syndicated columns such as Dollars and Sense and Senior News Line, and news and feature stories from The Apopka Chief’s previous edition.

These newspapers are committed to generating comprehensive coverage of news and events as well as effective retail, classified and legal advertising for total community readership, and to deliver a broad distribution area providing results for the advertisers’ investment.
