RICHARD “Rich” HURT, 61, Apopka, died Tuesday, August 23. He was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky, to Joe and Marjorie Hurt on August 9, 1961. He worked in the construction business, and was a beloved son, brother, uncle. Survivors: Three brothers: Dan Hurt (Judy Nash Ellis) of Acworth, Georgia; Michael Hurt (Laura) of Apopka, Florida; Robin Hurt of Longwood, Florida. NANCY COLTON PLATT, 86, Apopka, died Thursday, September 15. Nancy was born Nancy Ann Thrush in Peru, Indiana, on February 22, 1936, the youngest of the three children of Hazel Laudenbarger and Marquis Thrush. She survived two husbands, Donne L. Colton who died in 1979 and second husband Lou Comito who died in 2004. Survivors: husband Robert Platt, Apopka; daughter Susan Colton Weiland of Hopkinton, Massachusetts; son Donne Colton, Jr. of Alexandria, Virginia, and two granddaughters.

WYNETTE DEAN HUGGINS, age 85, began her walk on Heaven’s streets of gold on Saturday, September 3. Wynette worked many jobs before becoming a substitute teacher and school secretary at Dream Lake Elementary and Apopka High School. Later, she was a driving force in their nursery near Lake Ola. She is survived by her daughters Kathy (Jim) Riffle and Karen (Mike) Thrailkill, 3 grandsons, 4 great grandchildren, her sister Mary Butler and many beloved nieces and nephews. Wynette was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) of 62 years, and also her brothers Clarence and Eddie, and her sisters Marie and Dorothy.

Joan is survived by brothers Richard (Marie) of Ann Arbor, MI, and Teddy (Helen) of Fairfield, VA; her children James (Victoria), Gainesville, FL; Raymond (Martha) of Sacramento, CA; Sharon of Apopka, John (Sutton) of Apopka; and Nelson Charles (Anel) of San Antonio, TX, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her parents James and Florence Duke, brothers Paul, Nelson, David, sisters Katie and Florence, as well as infant granddaughter Sofia.
