Loaves & Fishes’ Walk for Hunger, the non-profit Christian organization’s only fundraiser for the year, will include prayer, raffle prizes and awards.

Walk for Hunger will be on Saturday, April 8, at Sabal Point Elementary, 960 Wekiva Springs Road, Longwood. The check-in time is 8:30 a.m. The walk starts at 9 a.m.

Donations from the walk will be used for purchasing food items to fill Loaves & Fishes warehouse, as well as household items (toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc.) that are sometimes taken for granted, but are considered luxury items to families less fortunate.

The walk is three miles with a water station at the one- and two-mile checkpoints. There will be refreshments for walkers when they return to the school.

Loaves & Fishes will also have a van that will circle the course to help anyone who may need a ride or assistance of any kind.

Area churches, businesses, schools and individuals fund Loaves & Fishes. It helps approximately 400 families each week with food, toiletries, cleaning products and household items. It doesn’t receive government funding, but rely totally on private donations to help those in the community.
