Here are the Debbie Turner Cancer Center’s October 2016 fundraisers

Throughout October – known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Debbie Turner’s Cancer Care and Resource Center will host fundraisers packed with music, raffles, auctions, and food and drink. All proceeds from these events will go toward the center’s local cancer families and kids.

Located at 229 E. Fifth St., Apopka, the center was founded in 2007 by Debbie Turner, herself a survivor of brain cancer currently in remission.

Benefit concert
The Rowdy Johnson Band are returning to Apopka to perform a benefit concert at Apopka Elks Lodge, 201 W. Orange St., Apopka, on October 7 from 7-10 p.m.

Food, to be served at 6 p.m., is provided by Cafe Verona Apopka for $8. There will be a 50/50.

Breast & Fest 2016
Everyone is welcome to the annual Breast & Fest on October 8 at the Apopka Elks Lodge 2422, 201 W. Orange St., Apopka.

Opening at 6 p.m., the event will include a chicken dinner, cake walk, music, auction and a t-shirt contest.

Party in the Park
On October 1 from 2-9 p.m., there will be a Party in the Park at Kit Land Nelson Park, 10 N. Forest Ave., Apopka, where a live concert will start at 3 p.m. Plus, there will be food trucks, drinks, vendors and auction.

Health screenings and wellness services
On October 22 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., there will be free mammogram screenings at the United Methodist Church of Apopka, 201 S. Park Ave., Apopka.

Emery Medical Solutions, and Florida Cancer Specialist and Research Institute are conducting 100 mammogram screenings. Debbie Turner’s Cancer Care and Resource Center will cover each cost of the screening – $35 – for a total of $3,500. In four year’s time, the center paid for 720 mammograms.

Sponsorship and vendor space are available but limited.
