ARTHUR S. “ART” MICKELSON, 75, Apopka, died Thursday, March 19. He was captain in the Air Force in the Vietnam War era. He was a district supervisor for the Florida Department of Children and Families, a high school math teacher, and facilitated educational opportunities for at-risk youth. Survivors: wife, Marjorie; sister, Diane Mock, brother Roger. Memorial service at later date.

After graduating from Lakeview High, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years as an air traffic control specialist. He later worked in Central Florida as a telecommunication specialist. He then became a missionary delivering food packages throughout North America, South America, Asia, Africa, and Australia. PATRICIA “PATTY” (CALLARD) FRIEDERICHS, 55, Apopka, died Friday, March 13. Patty was born in Pasadena, California. She worked in advertising for the Florida Times-Union and the Orlando Sentinel and served as the PTA president of Rock Springs Elementary.
