ARTHUR S. “ART” MICKELSON, 75, Apopka, died Thursday, March 19. He was captain in the Air Force in the Vietnam War era. He was a district supervisor for the Florida Department of Children and Families, a high school math teacher, and facilitated educational opportunities for at-risk youth. After graduating from Lakeview High, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years as an air traffic control specialist. He later worked in Central Florida as a telecommunication specialist. He then became a missionary delivering food packages throughout North America, South America, Asia, Africa, and Australia. She worked in advertising for the Florida Times-Union and the Orlando Sentinel and served as the PTA president of Rock Springs Elementary.
