Individuals interested in seeking opportunities for Interstate 4 construction jobs may attend a workforce development open house slated for Thursday, March 30, 10 a.m.-noon at the John Bridges Community Center, 445 W. 13th St., Apopka.

I-4 is currently undergoing major reconstruction in Central Florida and with that comes opportunity. Throughout the life of this project, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will be seeking workers for a variety of I-4 construction jobs.

The FDOT has partnered with Community Action Partnership and Orange County government in hosting the workshop.

Anyone, including disadvantaged workers, women and minorities, are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to build a career in the construction industry.

This open house is an informational meeting only. No applications will be taken and no interviews will be conducted.

Brief presentations will be held at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

The I-4 Ultimate overhaul project aims to overhaul 21 miles of roadway from west of Kirkman Road in Orange County to east of State Road 434 in Seminole County, according to the project website.

This section of the website contains everything visitors need to know about the I-4 Ultimate project, including the past, present and future of I-4, job opportunities and innovative features.

Anyone who has questions about the open house may contact Katie Widdison, outreach coordinator, at 386-212-0449 or via email at katie.widdison@dot.state.fl.us.
