Florida Hospital is handing over its building at 618 S. Forest Ave., Apopka, to Community Health Centers Apopka in a Wednesday, May 31, handover ceremony at 10 a.m.

Community Health Centers (CHC) has run its pediatric clinic from the building for many years, but will now assume ownership.

Ceremony speakers will include Florida Hospital Apopka Administrator Tim Cook, Apopka Mayor Joe Kilsheimer, and CHC President and CEO Margaret Brennan.

Florida Hospital is constructing its newly relocated campus, anticipated to open at the end of this year, at the intersection of Ocoee-Apopka Road and Harmon Road, just off S.R. 429.

Upon completion, Florida Hospital Apopka will be a 70-acre location with a seven-story, 600,000-square-foot hospital building, a 200,000-square-foot medical office building and a helipad.

The building will have 120 private patient rooms, additional surgical services, an expanded Women’s Center, outpatient rehabilitation program and intensive care unit.

As well, the hospital will continue to offer its current services after its relocation such as emergency room, cardiology and imaging services.

The Apopka Chief will have an update on this story in its Friday, June 2, edition.Â
