Along with enjoying the usual food and live entertainment at the Apopka Food Truck Roundup, the public also signed the topping beam that will get set as the pinnacle of the new Florida Hospital Apopka campus.

The topping beam signing was held during the monthly Apopka Food Truck Roundup at Kit Land Nelson Park on Wednesday, September 7.

City officials and first responders also signed the huge, metal I-beam, which Florida Hospital will place on top of the new, under-construction structure during a topping-out ceremony on Friday, September 16, at 11:30 a.m. The construction site is near the intersection of state roads 429 and 414.

The event will stream live at www.youtube.com/floridahospital.
“It’s a moment for the community to participate in one of the most dramatic events that has every taken place in Apopka, which is the construction of this $200 million hospital, and it’s great we get to participate,” said Mayor Joe Kilsheimer, who signed the beam.

At first scheduled for Thursday, September 1, the Food Truck Roundup was moved to September 7 because of inclement weather, when Hurricane Hermine made landfall. The roundup featured a dozen food trucks from across Central Florida and live music.
